CLIMOTI is the world's first platform to transform historical weather data into aesthetic works of art.
The idea: make the weather of a specific day visible — as a personalised, data-driven visualisation. What started as a spontaneous question ("What was the weather like on the day I was born?") became an innovative concept that brings together design, science and emotion.
CLIMOTI was founded in 2024 by Christopher C. Mickelthwate and Dirk von Manteuffel and is a project of DIALOGISTIKER GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main. All production takes place exclusively in Germany, on FSC-certified paper, climate-neutrally and using state-of-the-art print-on-demand technology.
Story Angles for the Press
CLIMOTI offers editorial potential across a wide range of sections — from science and society to culture and design.
- Design & Art: How data becomes emotion. CLIMOTI shows that even numbers can have a soul. Weather data becomes a visual experience — with colour, form and structure as the language of memory.
- Data & Aesthetics: How information becomes something you can feel. This isn't about technology — it's about design. How do you visualise data in a way that tells stories? CLIMOTI makes the invisible visible — for the head and the heart.
- Climate Change: Making change you can actually see. Climate change stays abstract until you see it. CLIMOTI uses historical weather data to show decades of shift — emotional, aesthetic and tangible.
- Society: Memory culture in the age of climate. Everyone remembers weather. Sun, rain, snow — it shapes our lives. CLIMOTI shows how climate becomes part of our collective memory, and what it says about who we are.
- Children & Young People: Seeing climate instead of just studying it. CLIMOTI can help make complex topics like climate and change genuinely accessible. Young people experience how weather has shifted over time — and come to understand climate through images rather than figures.
- Sustainability & Responsibility: Conscious design, conscious action. At CLIMOTI, sustainability goes beyond materials. It's about awareness — how we treat resources, time and data. Every visualisation is a reminder that climate and responsibility are inseparable.
