It started with a simple question What was the weather like on the day I was born?

That question is where CLIMOTI began. It came to us in 2014, on a cold December evening. We were looking for a way to make the weather of past days visible — not as a number or a graph, but as something that actually moves you. It quickly became clear: nothing existed that made historical weather data simple, beautiful and accessible.

The idea never let us go. Over the years it kept growing — until Christopher C. Mickelthwate and Dirk von Manteuffel decided to make it real. Together with our team at DIALOGISTIKER, one of Germany's leading print-on-demand providers, we brought CLIMOTI to life: the world's first platform that turns historical climate data into individual works of art.

Our Mission

At CLIMOTI, we believe data can tell stories — especially when you combine it with design and emotion. Our goal is to give people a new way to hold on to the moments that matter: not with photographs, but with the weather that was there alongside them.

We want to show that numbers don't have to be dry. And at the same time, we want to raise awareness: the climate is changing, and with CLIMOTI, you can see just how dramatically the weather has shifted over the decades.

The People Behind CLIMOTI

Behind CLIMOTI are people who love data, live for design and believe in the power of stories.

The idea came from Christopher C. Mickelthwate, who has spent years working in personalised print products and wanted to turn data into emotion. Together with Dirk von Manteuffel — an experienced designer with a sharp eye for visual language — the idea became an aesthetic experience.

We're backed by DIALOGISTIKER, our partner for sustainable production and print-on-demand. Together, we bring technology, design and environmental awareness under one roof — with the ambition to create something genuinely new.
